    Dr. Melissa Melendez, viola

    Melendez has performed with the University of Arizona Symphony Orchestra as the 2004 winner of the President’s Competition held at the Univeristy of Arizona. In 2012, Melendez was featured in the world premiere of Venezuelan composer Gonzalos Castellano’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra with the Carabobo Symphony in Venezuela. Dr. Melendez will perform a U.S. Premiere of the Castellanos Viola Concerto with the Kingsville Symphony Orchestra.

    Duo Cuentista members Dr. Ann Fronckowiak on Oboe and Dr. Jason Kihle on Percussion perform dynamic and rhythmic works for this interesting instrumentation. The duo has performed all over the U.S. with performances at the International Double Reed Society, College Music Society, and National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors. This year they join the KSO to perform Thea Musgrave’s Concerto for Oboe and Percussion, Two’s Company, written in 2005. This piece contains an elaborate set-up for percussion and choreography for the oboe. Come and witness this one-of-a-kind musical work!

  • A Patriotic Celebration

    Wear your red, white and blue and celebrate America with music, song and virtual fireworks! The July 4th concert is dedicated to our veterans and active service men and women. All active duty and veterans are admitted for FREE. Adult military family members receive a $2 discount on tickets.
